Halil İbrahim Yüksel, General Artistic Director

Born in 1971, Halil Ibrahim Yüksel completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Kayseri. He graduated from the Department of Basic Sciences at Ege University’s State Turkish Music Conservatory in 1995, and completed his master's degree there in 2002 at the Social Sciences Institute’s Folklore Department. Between 2012 and 2015 he taught Turkish Music Theory and Tanbur at Dokuz Eylül University’s Department of Musicology..

Since 1993, Yüksel has been General Arts Director of Ege University’s  Classical Turkish Music Choir and has also directed the Conservatory Classical Turkish Music Choir and Instrumental Works Ensemble since 1996. He has rehearsed and conducted nearly two hundred and fifty concert programs with different ensembles in Turkey and many other countries.

Halil Ibrahim continues to work with instruments such as the Tanbûr, Lavta and Oud, and gives solo performances during festivals, arts days and for private invitations both in Turkey and abroad, while continuing to perform with different music groups.

Yüksel started working as a lecturer at the Vocal Training Department of  Ege University’s Turkish Music Conservatory, Ege University, and he  currently continues at this university which he graduated from, teaching Instrumental classes (Tanbur), Ensemble Practice, Choir, Turkish Art Music  and Applied Maqam Analysis in Turkish Music.

Classical Turkish Music Choir

 

Since 1993, studies in Turkish Music have been officially conducted through the auspices of Ege University, within different faculties and over different time periods, but all under the umbrella of Ege University's Classical Turkish Music Choir and in accordance with the classical performance approach

The group has become frequently mentioned and appreciated by art loversthrough the concert programs it presents as authentic Turkish Art Music.

Working continuously for the past 33 years under the management of Mr. Halil İbrahim YÜKSEL, lecturer at Ege University's State Turkish Music Conservatory, the group has given many professional concerts at the invitation of several different universities and institutions in İzmir and throughout the country. The choir continues its work with the same professional dedication and artistic understanding.
