EMBRYO
The legendary band Embryo has been around since 1969 and is still evolving, living on through generations and crossing borders. An international collective, with influences from all over the world and a rare gem of musical creativity.
Since 2016 Marja, the daughter of the former Christian Burchard, has been leading the band. She bring ́s new energy with the same spirit. Jazz, Rock, psychedelic melodies from all over the world, Rhythms and Improvisations are fusing into a new sound never heard before. It’s pure music.
Formed in 1969 in Germany by Christian Burchard, Embryo was one of the most original and innovative Krautrock bands. Fusing traditional music with their own jazzy space rock style, they have played with such greats as Jazz pianist Mal Waldron, saxophone player Charlie Mariano, and many world stars like Trilok Gurtu and Fela Kuti.
With the new generation, Embryo keeps flowing on and on - creating and remembering with great respect for the old melodies and masters of the whole world, without loosing their own style.
It’s music without borders, always looking for, and always finding, something new.
In 2021, Embryo brought out one new record on madlib invazion (LA) : https://www.rappcats.com/embryo/

As an international collective and a rare gem of musical history,  with influences from all over the world, they play together with Tuareg guitarist Ahmed Ag Kaedi who carries the roots of North-African blues in his music. His soothing melodies yearn for an almost forgotten culture, as he sings about home in the language of Tuareg. Together they give a performance that unites their heritage and builds bridges between our cultures.

“Embryo – they are these crazy creative musicians playing really great stuff”
  Miles Davis

"This music is always better than any drug. It ́s a revelation, a promise, which gives hope and builds courage. You can see and hear the pleasure the musicians have and spread on stage..."
Hallertau Newspaper

"Die Krautrock-Königin (Queen of Krautrock) - Marja Burchard, daughter of the Krautrock pioneer & multi-instrumentalist Christian Burchard, who died earlier this year, keeps the heritage of her father and his legendary fusion collective alive."

"In all the journeys of Embryo to the Orient and Afrika the most important is always the exchange with other musicians, theire common explorations of styles in music. Already hundreds of musicians joined the collective, and from all this experience is coming out free flowting and flowing colourful music, never bored and always alive. Flowing and flowing....never ending...." Christoph Wagner
